My cat started to behavior very strangely on Wednesday. We thought my husband had accidently walked or stepped on her as he walked into the narrow pathway between the bed and dresser. Josie screeched and then ran under the bed with hissing, growling and even urinated under the bed. It was not pleasant as she behaved continued to hiss and growl as we went near our bed that evening.
She eventually ran to another room and we left her alone. Josie still was hissing and growling from under the dining room table. We finally went to bed hoping the next morning she would be fine. Thursday morning all was well until we started to move around the kitchen and she started to hiss and growl under the kitchen table. Unfortunately, she wet the floor and we quickly cleaned it up.
Thursday night we returned and Josie seemed fine again. That night she ate alright and our son and daughter in law came over to watch the ballgame on TV. Our son stood up from the couch and the cat took off thumping into the coffee table and went back to her hissing mode. Our son couldn't calm the cat down. She was definitely upset agan and wet herself on the magazines she was lying down on. Later she left the area and we isolated her in our hallway with food, water and her litter box.
Friday morning she seemed alright, but walked around very cautiously as if someone would scare her. We took her to the vet and he thought she may have a urinary infection although he couldn't test her. Of course, she was fine at the vets and later that night she started again with hissing and growling. Friday night we again isolated her as before on Thursday.
We left her alone most of the day Saturday and it was not until Sunday our cat was back to normal. She no longer hissed or growled and we can only assume she had a urinary infection. We did find out that on Wednesday, the people above our apartment were watching another cat in their apartment. Perhaps, this cat cause our cat problems, as cats can scent a stray.
We did not like the changes of our 3 year old cat and never want that experience that behavior again.
